While not everyone was a fan of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the Netflix comedy, created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, which follows the titular character (played by the The Office's Ellie Kemper) trying to acclimate into the world after being abducted by a psycho cult leader 15 years prior, at least had something interesting to say about trauma, cult behavior, and Pinot Noir. And now a teaser for the next season has dropped, which will premiere on Netflix in April.
While the teaser is brief, it features Jane Krakowski sporting an incredibly pouty face and Tituss Burgess in all his theatrical glory. Krakowski plays Jacqueline Voorhees, a New York socialite who hires Kimmy as a nanny. Her character is essentially a reprisal of the narcissistic brilliance that we saw in 30 Rock, but perhaps more sympathetic (and human). Burgess stars as an aspiring actor who is also Kimmy's roommate and best friend.
It may not say much about the quality of the next season, but the trailer is definitely a reminder of something really awesome about the show—the fact that no one in the main cast is a white male. Who else on TV is doing that?
Anyway, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will air on Netflix Apr. 15.
