The 2016 lehighvalleylive All-Area baseball team shows off a depth of pitchers and two-way players that took the diamond on both sides of the Delaware River this season.

Chad Cooperman, Salisbury

Senior RHP
Stats: 8-3, 72.2 IP, 57 H, 18 BB, 106 K. 1.156 ERA, 1.03 WHIP
The strikeout king fanned a whopping 106 batters in 72.2 innings this season. That included a high of 15 Ks (to one walk) in a win over Catasauqua. Cooperman also posted strikeout totals of 14, 13, 12 and 11 during the season. His low was five. The senior also added 10 RBI at the plate. Will continue his career at Bloomsburg.

Trey Durrah, Easton

Senior 1B
Stats: .372 BA, .458 OBP, 9 2B, 3 3B, 22 RBI, 16 R, 11 BB
The Red Rovers' cleanup batter was an on-base machine, racking up 29 hits — 12 of which went for extra bases — and 11 walks to go with 22 RBI. He struck out just twice all year and played a big role in Easton's district crown. Durrah also played a fine first base. Will continue his career at Lafayette College.

Carson Freeman, Bangor

Senior RHP/OF
Stats: 9-1, 62.1 IP, 30 H, 23 BB, 82 K, 1.011 ERA, 0.850 WHIP … .485 BA, 13 2B, 4 3B, 4 HR, 32 RBI, 32 R.
The peak example of a two-way player, the Colonial League MVP went 9-1 on the mound with 82 strikeouts in 62.1 innings while also roaming center field and mashing .485 with four home runs, 32 RBI, 32 runs and a .985 slugging percentage. Tossed two five-inning perfect games against East Stroudsburg South and Notre Dame. Will continue his career at East Stroudsburg University.

Josh Field, Bangor

Senior C
Stats: .500 BA, .582 OBP, 8 2B, 32 RBI, 21 R, 7 HBP, 10 BB
One of the unsung heroes for the Slaters as they went 23-0 with a Colonial League championship before falling in the district semifinals. A three-year starter behind the plate, Field displayed strong catching skills with zero passed balls and called his own games. At the same time, he hit .500 with 32 RBI and an OPS of 1.193. Will continue his career at Cairn University.

Jake Hall, Hackettstown

Stats: .455 BA, 1.045 SLG, 9 2B, 10 HR, 37 RBI, 13 R, 4 HBP, 10 BB
The Tiger crushed an area-best 10 home runs while his slugging percentage soared to 1.045. Hall also hit for average, batting .455 with nine doubles (meaning 19 of his 30 hits went for extra bases), 37 RBI and 13 runs, helping his team reach the North 2 Group 2 quarterfinals.

Michael Jenkins, Parkland

Junior RHP
Stats: 8-1, 60 IP, 56 H, 6 BB, 65 K, 1.87 ERA, 1.03 WHIP
The junior turned in big outings time and time again, and did so against quality opposition — all 10 appearances came against district qualifiers. Jenkins struck out 65 and walked just six over 60 innings, posting a 1.03 WHIP. He also came through at the plate in limited opportunities late, batting .290 with 9 RBI.

Eric Santiago, Notre Dame

Stats: .500 BA, 9 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 15 RBI, 26 R, 18 SB, 7 BB
The Crusaders' leadoff man turned in another fine season, batting an even .500 with 18 stolen bases and 26 runs. Santiago was also as steady as they come at shortstop, helping Notre Dame reach the District 11 Class AA championship. Becomes a two-time lehighvalleylive All-Area first-teamer. Will continue his career at the University of Cincinnati.

CJ Schaible, Delaware Valley

Senior LHP
Stats: 8-4, 87 K, 0.98 ERA. 0.847 WHIP … .371 BA, .452 OBP, 14 RBI, 9 R, 7 BB
In an historic year for the Terriers, Schaible was right at the heart of the team. The lefty's 87 punchouts tied a school record while his eight wins set a school record. Tossed a complete game five-hitter to clinch the Terriers' first sectional title in 57 years. Will continue his career at Mercer County Community College.

Anthony Sorrentino, Central Catholic

The surehanded shortstop hit .431 and was one of a few Vikings to go on a tear during the EPC tournament to help them make an improbable run to the championship game. Will continue his career at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

Anthony Veneziano, Warren Hills

The tall lefty put the Blue Streaks on his back, posting a 0.74 ERA. In the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex quarterfinals against Sparta, Veneziano spun a nine-inning no-hit gem with 16 strikeouts, allowing his team to win 1-0 in 11 innings. The senior also batted .388 with 12 stolen bases. Will continue his career at newly crowned national champion Coastal Carolina.

Pete Violante, Easton

Senior RHP
Stats: 9-2, 72 IP, 65 H, 18 BB, 59 K, 1.75 ERA, 1.153 WHIP
The senior ace on one of the area's top pitching staffs that boasted a team ERA of 1.88, the Red Rovers had a good chance to win every time he took the mound — and did most of the time. Violante punched out 59 over 72 innings of work, setting down lineups effectively all season. Will continue his career at Drew University.

John Wilson, North Hunterdon

Stats: 6-2, 70.1 IP, 48 H, 17 BB, 105 K, 1.095 ERA, 0.924 WHIP … .344 BA, 8 2B, 1 HR,  21 RBI, 17 R, 19 BB.
The Lions would not have reached the Group 4 semifinals if not for their senior ace, who artfully mowed down lineups at will.  The 38th-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds totaled 105 strikeouts in 70.1 innings, allowing just 11 earned runs and 17 walks in the process. Wilson also delivered at the plate batting .344 with 21 RBI. Will continue his career at Old Dominion.

Corey Webb, Easton

A catalyst on the Red Rovers squad that won its first District 11 championship since 1993 and advanced to the state quarterfinals, Webb moved from third base to catcher for his senior year and caught a pitching staff that had a 1.88 ERA. He also cashed in at the plate with a .427 average, eight doubles and 22 RBIs.Will continue his career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

John Yocum, Freedom

The EPC MVP was a workhorse the Patriots rode to an EPC championship, with him tossing a two-hitter and driving in the lone run in the title game. Yocum allowed just five earned runs over 59 innings of work, striking out 61 while walking 19. He was also a force out of the three-hole, belting four home runs. Will continue his career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
