Justin Tyler Gnas, 24, of the 3700 block of Mountain View Drive in Danielsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Allen Township, Coroner Zachary Lysek said.

Lysek said Gnas died of multiple blunt force trauma and he ruled his death an accident.

The crash happened at 7:09 a.m. in the 4100 block of Cherryville Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

It happened after Gnas, who was northbound on Cherryville Road in a Mitsubishi, had passed another northbound vehicle by going into the opposite lane, according to state police.

As he tried to move back in to the northbound lane and was still over the double-yellow line, his car collided with the front of a southbound firetruck, state police said.

The truck belonged to the Slatington Volunteer Fire Department and was headed to get maintenance, Lysek said.

This GoFundMe page seeks to raise money to help the family of crash victim Justin Gnas, 24, defray funeral expenses. It was established on May 26, 2017 -- the date of the accident on Cherryville Road in Allen Township. (lehighvalleylive.com photo)

Gnas, who was the only one in the car, was on his way to work when the crash occurred, according to an online fundraiser. He had attended Northampton Area High School and Northampton Community College, according to his Facebook profile.

He was the son of Brian and Lisa Gnas, according to the fundraiser, and his Facebook profile said he worked for a landscaping company.
