Mets Send Tim Tebow Down To Low Class-A Afilliate Columbia Fireflies

Newsday- Tim Tebow’s baseball odyssey will continue in South Carolina with the Columbia Fireflies, the Mets’ low Class-A affiliate in the South Atlantic League, where he will play every day as he attempts his transition from quarterback to corner outfielder. “Sending him to a full season club is what we hoped to be able to do,” Mets general manager Sandy Alderson told Newsday on Monday. “And based on what he’s done in spring training, and his whole body of work since last fall, we feel comfortable with him going to Columbia.” The Mets have been consistent in saying that Tebow’s development is tied to playing in as many games possible. Not long after instructional league, he was sent to the Arizona Fall League, even though Alderson said Mets knew he’d be “somewhat overmatched, especially early on.”

No big deal, this is all simply a minor setback to a major comeback. Yeah we can talk about how Tim Tebow looked overmatched for some of his time in Spring Training. But he did show some flashes of being an actual baseball player and even Barstool’s resident baseball expert Carrabis (you probably mispronounced his name in your head) is a believer. It wasn’t all sunshine and miracles for JC 2,000 years ago and things ended up okay for him (talking about going to heaven and saving humanity, not the crucifixion stuff). I think I am ready to run through a wall after hearing that speech.

As for the Columbia Fireflies, I would say they are pretty stoked with having God’s favorite player on their roster.

At least the person that handles the Fireflies Twitter handle doesn’t mind stuffing another Minor League team in a locker. Gonna be a lot of #haterz coming out of the woodwork in low-A ball.

However that person mayyyyy be dabbling in black magic. And I can’t imagine Tim Tebow approves of that.

The jersey doesn’t glow in the dark?!? What a bunch of trash! The Wilpons probably are just pinching pennies again. But nonetheless, big news for Columbia and more ABs for Timmy Tebow.
