You can now schedule a ride with Uber

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Need a ride to the airport? Too busy to call Uber on your way out the door? Now you can schedule your Uber pick up in advance.

Uber's scheduled rides allow passengers to request a pick-up 30 days to 15 minutes ahead of time.

"Sometimes you want to schedule a pickup in advance so you can rest assured an Uber will be available when you need it, especially if it's for a 4 a.m. ride to the airport," said Uber.

New York is part of a global pilot of the feature, which was initially available through UberX.

SCHEDULE A RIDE

Uber offers these tips for scheduling a pick up:

  • Select your ride and tap "schedule a ride" to request a pick-up up to 30 days in advance.
  • Set pickup date, time, location, and destination, and get a fare estimate.  However, the fare is subject to
  • Confirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap "schedule." You can edit or cancel at any time before your ride is ready.
  • Uber will then send you reminders the day of the trip and give you a final heads up that your ride is on the way.
