Maybe it's not entirely original (or necessarily true anymore) to complain that Japan gets all the cool stuff, but in the case of Tokyo's newly opened Final Fantasy themed restaurant, Japan really did get the cool stuff.
The restaurant is a joint collaboration between the Pasela Resorts company and Square Enix, and is called Eorzea Cafe.
The eatery, which opened today in the Akihabara district of Tokyo, is based on the world of Final Fantasy XIV. This means that while patrons won't be able to order One-Winged Angel food cake for desert, they can still order food and drinks that draw inspiration from the world of Final Fantasy XIV. Since the games all share common threads, the menu will satisfy any fan of the series. Fancy something spicy? Order the Bahamut Giga Flare Curry. How about a Weight of the Land Titan Burger, for a little bit more casual fare?
Game director Naoki Yoshida was on hand to help celebrate the cafe's opening, and even tended bar for lucky fans of both the game and alcohol.
Inside the establishment, the walls are adorned with swords and other items that bring a genuine feeling of being inside a Final Fantasy cafe. Are there Moogles, you ask? Of course there are Moogles.
The cafe's official website can be found here, but it's entirely in Japanese.
