President Barack Obama had the ultimate "Oh, Snap!" moment during his 2015 State of the Union Address on Wednesday.

During a live televised speech, released online ahead of time and which marked the U.S. leader's first comments to a Republican-controlled Congress since the GOP won control of the Senate in a November election, he said, "I have no more campaigns to run."

A two-second-long smattering of snarky applause was then heard, then laughter.

Obama then smirked, nodded and said, smiling, "I know, 'cause I won both of them." (Watch above, at 57:22.)

The remark, which was unscripted, earned the president sincere applause, including a few standing ovations, and smiles from the likes of Attorney General Eric Holder, Massachusetts Senator and Democratic Party member Elizabeth Warren, and Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights advocate who was one of the marchers at a now-famous March 1965 demonstration led by late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led in Selma, Alabama.

Obama, head of the Democratic Party, is beginning the second-to-last year of his second and final presidential term before a 2016 election.

He earned at least 14 standing ovations during his 1-hour speech, which was held a day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day and following months of racially charged demonstrations in several U.S. cities followings the killings of two unarmed black men by white police officers.

"We may go at it in campaign season but surely we can agree that the right to vote is sacred, that it's being denied to too many and that on this 50th anniversary of the great march from Selma to Montgomery and the passing to the Voting Rights Act, we can come together, Democrats and Republicans, to make voting easier for every single American," Obama said.

He also earned at least 11 more standing ovations after talking about:

1. An improving economy

"It has been and still is a hard time for many," he said. "But tonight, we turn the page. Tonight, after a breakthrough year for America, our economy is growing and creating jobs at the fastest pace since 1989."

"America, for all that we have endured, for all the grit and hard work required to come back, for all the tasks that lie ahead, know this: The shadow of crisis has passed and the State of the Union is strong," he said, earning more standing ovations.

2. Lower gas prices

"Thanks to lower gas prices and higher fuel standards, the typical family this year should save about $750 at the pump."

3. Affordable, quality childcare and tax cuts for parents

"When having both parents in the workforce is an economic necessity for many families, we need affordable high-quality childcare more than ever," he said.

4. Sick leave and maternity leave for workers

"Send me a bill that gives every worker in America the opportunity to earn seven days of paid sick leave," he said. "It's the right thing to do."

5. Making two years of community college free and reducing student loan debt

"Let's stay ahead of the curve," he said. "And I want to work with this Congress, to make sure Americans already burdened with student loans can reduce their monthly payments, so that student debt doesn't derail anyone's dreams."

6. Calling on CEOs to hire veterans

"To every CEO in America, let me repeat: If you want somebody who's going to get the job done, hire a veteran," he said.

7. Trade deals

"I'm asking both parties to give me trade promotion authority to protect American workers, with strong new trade deals from Asia to Europe that aren't just free, but fair," he said.

8. A "Precision Medicine Initiative"

"Tonight, I'm launching a new Precision Medicine Initiative to bring us closer to curing diseases like cancer and diabetes—and to give all of us access to the personalized information we need to keep ourselves and our families healthier," he said.

9. War on terror

"We will continue to hunt down terrorists and dismantle their networks, and we reserve the right to act unilaterally, as we've done relentlessly since I took office to take out terrorists who pose a direct threat to us and our allies," he said.

"Let's close loopholes so we stop rewarding companies that keep profits abroad, and reward those that invest in America. Let's use those savings to rebuild our infrastructure and make it more attractive for companies to bring jobs home."

10. Anti-hacking efforts

"I urge this Congress to finally pass the legislation we need to better meet the evolving threat of cyber-attacks, combat identity theft, and protect our children's information," he said.

11. The recent political unrest

Obama called for reforms in the criminal justice system, so that it "protects and serves all of us."
