'Game Of Thrones' Double: Cersei Nude Scene Was The 'Hardest Thing' She's Ever Done

There were *two* women giving their all to that horrific scene.

Though Jon Snow's maybe-death -- yeah, we're saying that without spoiler warnings now because it's been long enough -- was the most hot-button of "Game of Thrones" topics following the Season 5 finale, the Cersei "Walk of Shame" scene was just as brutal if not more so than the string of stomach stabs Snow endured "For the Watch."

Sure, we wanted to see Cersei suffer for all her sins in some way just as much as anybody, but the level of demoralization that her forced atonement trek reached was just much too much.

Seriously. Westeros needs to institute some form of the Eighth Amendment already. But we digress.

Cersei Walk of Shame GIF Lena Headey

Lena Headey handled the head-ey (sorry, we had to) portions of the shocking scene, but it was another actress, Rebecca Van Cleave, who revealed her cleave (again, sorry) along with just about everything else to cover the physical aspects of the scene. And, as you might expect, the trek of terror was no walk in the park.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cleave revealed that being pelted with rotten groceries and accosted by thousands of extras for three days straight totally took a toll on her.

"It's definitely the hardest thing I've ever done," she said, adding that at the same time it was "also the best experience of my life."

Cleave was reportedly chosen from over 1,000 applicants for the part, and the fact that she hadn't ever shown her nethers on-screen before was no hindrance -- quite the contrary, in fact. "It was actually the most comfortable casting I’ve ever had, considering," said Cleave.

Color us surprised -- but not with tomatoes, thanks.

What we're not shocked to hear from her, however, is that the shoot eventually reduced her to tears -- because HARSH -- even if it happened months after filming as she watched it with the world.

"It was very surreal and emotional, to be honest," she said of watching the tortuously long scene unfold. "I had a good little cry afterward. Lena and I put so much into that scene and to see it all come together was really special."

Indeed, the two worked side-by-side, sometimes literally, to coordinate their emotional-physical efforts, so Cleave doesn't want any extra credit for being the most obviously exposed portion of Cersei. "Lena put her heart and soul into that scene," said Cleave. "It should all be about the finished product, not about whose body was where and and whose head was where."

(Even so, she wouldn't exactly mind having her own lovely noggin in the frame next time. Wink wink nudge nudge.)
