Kojima has made plans for a remake public before, saying he was looking for a studio to update the stealth classic with the Fox Engine, which is now being used for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. In the past, Kojima hasn't been averse to outsourcing the franchise to other companies –– after Kojima Productions failed to bring the spinoff Metal Gear: Rising to fruition, he approached Platinum Games with the offer.Although the original MGS was included in Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection on PS3, it wasn't updated visually –– it was only included in the same form as it is on PSN.
As for the upcoming The Phantom Pain and its prequel Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Kojima Productions announced today that both are making their way to PC. The release dates have yet to be announced but the prequel, naturally, will arrive first.
