Has the lawyer surpassed the meth kingpin?
Better Call Saul, AMC's highly anticipated Breaking Bad prequel, delivered on its massive expectations in its series premiere last week, bringing in record cable ratings. Just how big was its debut? 6.9 million total viewers tuned in, with 4.4 million being in the all-important adults 18-49 demo, the latter of which is a new record. Breaking Bad's series premiere back in 2008? 1.4 million viewers tuned in.
BUT (There's always a but, right?) Breaking Bad didn't have the buzz or lead-in (Thanks, The Walking Dead!) Better Call Saul had, and Saul dropped by nearly 50 percent in its follow-up outing.
Of course, ratings and superiority do not go hand-in-hand, which is why we're saying to ask: do you think Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad?!
It's early, we know, but who doesn't love a good round of mother show vs. spinoff discussion?!
Plus, we also want you to weigh in on 19 other original series vs. spinoff debates to finally determine, once and for all, which is the better show! From old favorites like All in the Family and its two spinoffs The Jeffersons and Maude, to more recent entries, like Arrow and The Flash, sibling rivalry is always entertaining, no? And just for some laughs, we also included Friends vs. Joey. (No disrespect to Matt LeBlanc!)
