Arrest Made In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident: Middletown Police
After a lengthy investigation, police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run accident that killed Barbara Eddinger last year. She was 61.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A little more than a year after her death, Middletown Police have made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed city resident Barbara Eddinger. Police announced the arrest of Charles Leroy Demoranville, 47, of Haddam on Tuesday morning. Eddinger was at her residence on Chamberlain Hill Road when she was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the roadway on March 31, 2016. She was 61.
A lengthy investigation revealed that Demoranville was the delivery person for a restaurant in Middletown and struck Eddinger while delivering food to a residence in the area, police said in a press release. Officer Michael Inglis, of the Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Unit, has been investigating the accident and recently applied for an arrest warrant for Demoranville.
Demoranville turned himself in to Middletown Police on Tuesday morning.

Demoranville, of Saybrook Road in Haddam, was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility. He was held on a $750,000 bond, which he did not post. He was assigned a court date of May 2.
