Luke Combs doesn’t discriminate when it comes to artists he’d like to collaborate with. The singer-songwriter sat down with Taste of Country Nights recently and dished about his pre-musician jobs, his upcoming tour, and the top three artists he’d like to team up with one day. Surprisingly, two of them were not country…at all.

Billy Joel, Elton John, Eric Church,” Combs replies succinctly. Church and Combs are both North Carolina natives and even attended the same college.

“I’ve met Eric; haven’t met Elton or Billy yet,” he adds with a laugh.

That didn’t stop him from joining up with Brantley Gilbert, though. He said even though the two are on tour together, they hadn’t met beforehand. They hadn't even spoken on the phone.

“[Our managers] tell each of us that we’re gonna like each other, though,” Combs shares. “[I’d] heard nothing but great things.”

Combs and Gilbert, along with Tucker Beathard, are on Gilbert’s The Devil Don’t Sleep Tour, which kicked off Feb. 2 and runs through April 29. It’s a far cry from Combs' early days playing in a bar where he used to be a bouncer — just one of his jobs during college, he says. He also worked at a go-kart facility where he often let his friends come in after hours.

Check out the full interview clip with Combs below, including a live performance of his tune “One Number Away.” His debut radio single “Hurricane” has already cracked the Top 25 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Billboard Country Singles charts. He's also slated to perform at Bonnaroo this summer.
