White House Says ESPN Host’s Trump Comments Are A ‘Fireable Offense’

The White House believes ESPN should fire Jemele Hill after “The Six” co-host called Trump a white supremacist in a series of tweets earlier this week.

After a reporter brought up the comments during a press briefing on Wednesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded on behalf of the president, saying that Hill should be fired for her actions.

“That is one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that is a fireable offense by ESPN,” Sanders said.

Sanders noted that she wasn’t sure if the president is aware of Hill’s comments, but made it very clear how the White House thinks ESPN should handle the situation. (RELATED: Kaepernick Voices Support For The ESPN Host Who Called Trump A White Supremacist)

ESPN released a statement Tuesday afternoon disavowing Hill’s remarks and stated that they addressed her actions, but didn’t comment on any further disciplinary action from the network.

“The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN,” the sports network’s public relations department said in the statement. “We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”
