An object that washed up on Australia’s shoreline is being investigated by authorities hunting for wreckage of the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, officials said Wednesday. The material — possibly a piece of sheet metal with rivets — was found six miles east of Augusta, NBC News reported. In China, families of missing passengers on-board the jet were notified of the potential lead in the investigation.
