Anna Kendrick has closed a deal to star opposite Zac Efron in Fox’s upcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
Efron and Adam DeVine are starring as the title characters, brothers who place an online ad to find plus-ones for a wedding. The hard-partying and immature brothers meet a pair of ladies who out-party and out-immature our heroes.
Kendrick will play a wild child with a romantic heart who is paired with Efron’s character.
Funny or Die’s Jake Szymanski is directing the comedy project that Chernin Entertainment is producing. The script was written by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, the duo who wrote last year’s Efron and Seth Rogen comedy, Neighbors.
The feature reunites Kendrick with DeVine, with whom she appeared in Pitch Perfect and teams with once again in this May’s Pitch Perfect 2. She is currently shooting The Accountant, a Warner Bros. thriller starring Ben Affleck.
Kendrick is repped by CAA.
