Professional flute player Viviana Guzman was recently paddleboarding on Half Moon Bay in Northern California when she got the surprise of her life.

In a video that's now going viral, Guzman can be seen playing the flute while sitting on her board. All of a sudden, a humpback whale surfaces from beneath the water, and nearly knocks her off her board. "Oh my god," she exclaims, as she tries to regain her balance.

While such an experience could easily terrify someone, the musician tells NBC News that she wasn't afraid. "It just really caught me by surprise," she said. "I do this all the time, but this one came a little closer."

After the close call, the clip continues from another angle, where she's seen playing her instrument as another whale slowly approaches. This amazing video, which you can see above, certainly proves the claim she makes in her YouTube channel's description: "I play the flute for whales, and they come!"

The flute player captured the incredible moment using a GoPro strapped on her chest, while her friend also had a camera. While they often go paddleboarding together in order to whale watch, this is certainly a unique perspective for the rest of us.
