Driver repeatedly rams other car in road rage incident, cops say

A driver intentionally rammed into another vehicle repeatedly during a road rage incident in Washington Township, Warren County, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 6:39 p.m. Saturday for multiple reports of an erratic vehicle in the area of East Asbury Anderson Road and Route 31 south. Calls to 911 reported a pickup truck -- towing a boat -- was repeatedly ramming into a Ford Bronco as it followed it east on East Asbury Anderson Road toward Mansfield Township, according to police.

Police found the pickup truck at a home along Old Turnpike Road in Washington Township, Morris County. An investigation revealed Paul Sipos, 21, of Port Murray, the driver of the pickup, was overtaken on Route 31 by the driver of the Ford Bronco and then, struck the Ford in retaliation, police said.

The crash occurred at the Route 31 south and East Asbury Anderson Road intersection. Then, Sipos continued to ram the Ford Bronco while it traveled on East Asbury Anderson Road, according to police.

Police said the repeated striking from Sipos' pickup caused damage to the Ford and the driver of the Ford to have neck and back injuries.

Sipos is charged with assault by automobile, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to report a motor vehicle accident and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

Sipos was released after posting $3,500 bail.
