Ivanka Trump said resettling Syrian refugees in the United States should be “part of the discussion.”
“I think there is a global humanitarian crisis that’s happening,” Ivanka — who serves as a special assistant to her father — said during an interview with the “Today” show. “And we have to come together and we have to solve it.”
When asked if that means letting Syrian refugees into the United States, Ivanka said, “That has to be part of the discussion, but that’s not going to be enough in and of itself.”

Donald Trump signed an executive order in March that would require the Department of Homeland Security to review its screening procedures while suspending the refugee admissions program for 120 days. The order temporarily bars the citizens of Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia and Yemen from entering the United States for 90 days, but it did not include the blanket ban on Syrian refugees like his first version of the order did. A federal judge froze the order shortly before it was supposed to go into effect.
