Gov. Chris Christie was appearing on the 10th anniversary special of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday when something, well ... awkward happened.
Christie had just spent a few moments reflecting on the George Washington Bridge scandal, an episode that has helped wreak havoc on his approval ratings.
Then, co-host Mika Brzezinski said: "Let me change the subject and make it even more awkward."
That's when the show took an unexpected turn.
"Are we going to talk about our odd attraction?" Christie asked Brzezinski. "Is that what you want to talk about? That would make it very awkward. Especially in front of Joe. It's terrible."
"Joe" is the namesake of the show -- co-host and former U.S. congressman Joe Scarborough. Oh yes. Brzezinski and Scarborough are engaged.
"Oh my God!" Brzezinski responded. "He just did that. He went there. Usually Donny does that stuff. Oh my God."
"Donny" is advertising executive Donny Deutsch, who regularly appears on the show -- and often says things that might be deemed inappropriate.
"I'm sorry. Which awkward thing did you want to talk about?" Christie asked, smiling.
Brzezinski then asked Christie about his relationship with his friend, President Donald Trump.
