CLEVELAND, Ohio -- While those of us in Cleveland would rather forget Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, Hollywood is making it into a movie.
According to Variety, Radar Pictures, producers of such films as "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Runaway Bride," has acquired the rights to former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross' book, "Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages."
The movie reportedly centers on that memorable night last November at Progressive Field, in which Chicago defeated the Indians, 8-7, in an extra-inning instant classic that ended the Cubs' 108-year championship drought. Ross, who retired after the game, hit a home run.
So, before you start imagining who might play Corey Kluber or Rajai Davis, be warned, this is a Cubs-centric movie.
Ross is spending his first spring training away from the game in 15 years by appearing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." He wore a bedazzled Cubs jersey in his first dance of the season Monday. His and professional partner Lindsay Arnold's quickstep earned a 28 (of 40) from the judges, good for third place.
Ross' book will be released in May. No word when the movie version would follow.
